LEARN MORE ABOUT DAYSPRING AND THE PRINCIPLE APPROACH® MARCH 11

Dayspring Christian Academy invites families to learn more about the school and the distinctives of a Principle Approach® education at an all-school open house Thursday, March 11, from 6 to 8 p.m.

“There are clear distinctions that only a Principle Approach® school offers,” noted Founder and Headmaster Michael Myers. “Dayspring Christian Academy offers a refreshing answer to families who seriously desire to turn the tide of mediocrity and decay so prevalent in America today.”

Dayspring is K-12, and the Principle Approach® education offers classical Christian scholarship in biblical reasoning. Writing is restored to the level that was characteristic of the American founding generation. Vocabulary and rudiments of each subject are identified, both biblically and historically. The biblical origin and purpose of a subject in every grade level of education is recovered.

“By definition, education itself is a neutral process,” Myers noted. “However, the end product or outcome of education reveals the underlying intent of those who are employed in it. In other words, every philosophy and form of education intends to produce a certain type of individual. Every educational system has a goal in mind for its students.”

Dayspring’s mission is to equip students to acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus Christ in every area of life, demonstrate a biblical worldview, become citizens of excellence in Christian character and scholarship, and restore America to her Christian purpose.

Other hallmarks of the Principle Approach® include the teaching of the providential view of history, identifying causes and effects from God’s perspective rather than man’s. The history of America and her form of government are seen as inseparable from the history of Christianity. Additionally,× the Christian character and scholarship necessary to support a Christian republic are produced in students, teachers, and parents alike.

“This moral fiber enables students  to separate from progressive and secular philosophies and methods and to avoid producing a character that is ripe for governmental socialism, secularism, and post-modernism,” Myers said.

The open house will include tours of the school, opportunity to speak with teachers, as well as an information session on the Principle Approach®.

If you would like more information about the open house or Dayspring Christian Academy, please call the school at 717.295.6400.

Dayspring Christian Academy in Lancaster is a K-12 school and one of approximately 50 Principle Approach® schools in the nation. Dayspring offers a classical Christian curriculum with formal instruction in logic, rhetoric, Latin, and New Testament Greek. The Principle Approach® is reflective by nature, challenging students to reason from the principles of God’s Word, relate them to everyday life and to articulate them soundly in writing and speech. One of Dayspring’s mission purposes is to restore America to its Christian foundation.

DAYSPRING CHRISTIAN ACADEMY BRINGS FILM

“THE SECRETS OF JONATHAN SPERRY” TO LANCASTER

On September 25 Hollywood releases a movie that continues a trend toward Christian-friendly films. “The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry” has been brought to the Lancaster area through a sponsorship by Dayspring Christian Academy and will be shown beginning Friday, September 25 at Penn Cinema. The films duration will depend on its ability to draw in viewers.

“The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry” is an inspiring film for viewers of all ages. Best buddies Dustin (Jansen Panettiere), Albert (Frankie Ryan Manriquez), and Mark (Allen Isaacson) are 12-year-old boys looking forward to a summer of fun in 1970.  When Dustin mows the lawn of seventy-five year old Jonathan Sperry (Gavin MacLeod), a man he has seen at church, a unique friendship develops.  What happens the rest of this summer is something Dustin and his friends will never forget.

Christian actor Kirk Cameron says, “The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry” moved me with its message about how one faithful man can make a difference in the lives of many. I recommend this inspiring movie for any family to watch together.”

“The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry” has a unique marketing plan behind the film where churches or Christian ministries sponsor the film as a local outreach in theaters. Locally, the film is being sponsored by Dayspring Christian Academy and opens in over 200 theaters nationwide in September.

Popular actor Gavin MacLeod, made famous from his roles in “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “The Love Boat,” is a devout Christian and said, “I have been acting for over 60 years, and  it was a privilege to play this role.”

The film's director and producer Rich Christiano (who also made “Time Changer”) and his team are hoping that churches and groups will jump on board. “Ninety-nine percent of the movies that come out in the theater have almost nothing to do with the Lord and Christian themes. I think this movie can encourage a lot of people during difficult times. They will laugh, be encouraged and touched.

“The church normally just plays defense,” Christiano adds. “Hollywood will do something we don't like, and we complain about it. We need to go on the offense. Let's put forth films that can be positive for our society like ‘The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry.’”

Jansen Panettiere, the younger brother of Hayden Panettiere of the television series “Heroes” and Robert Guillaume also co-star.
