Meet the Teacher: Josephine Snyder
What is your name? Josephine Snyder but I go by Jolene Snyder.
What do you teach? I am the aide for the prekindergarten program.
How many years have you taught at Dayspring? The 2021-2022 school year is my 5th year at Dayspring.
Summarize your teaching experience, past and present: For the past thirty years I have taught in public school, church, home school co-ops and have home schooled and graduated my three children. I have a Bachelor of Education degree in Elementary and Early Childhood from Millersville University.
Why did you decide to become a teacher? I love children and seeing them learn and grow.
What do you appreciate the most about the Principle Approach? Incorporating a biblical worldview with each subject and that you can see God’s hand in every aspect of education, in every subject. At Dayspring we can point this out and point the children to Christ and His redemptive plan.
What do you see in your students that is most encouraging? The willingness to try and follow God and try their best. Their responsiveness to the Bible and their eagerness to learn.
Why do you love teaching at Dayspring? I love that I can speak truth into their lives and show them the love of Christ.
How do you teach a biblical worldview in your classroom? I teach a biblical worldview by teaching the Bible and talking about how God would want us to respond in different situations. God loves all people and that no matter where you are in the world, people are the same. God is in control of all that happens and that the Bible is the authority in our lives.
What do you think most students appreciate about your class? I think my students appreciate that they can have fun and learn new, fun things. They see that I enjoy teaching them and having fun with them but also to have the balance of discipline as needed. They know that I care for them and treat them with respect.
What is unique about you, your talents, or interests that you bring to the classroom? I know how to lead or follow. I love being an aide but can step into the teaching role if needed. I have operated in both of these roles. I love showing the love of Christ to the students, and enjoy helping/teaching the students about God and learning new and fun things. I enjoy making games and bulletin boards for the classroom. I enjoy teaching unit studies to the children and making it fun. I love that I can love on the children and point them to Christ
What have you seen in your students over the years that has touched your heart the most? They want to follow God and learn to do what is right. Their responses to the Bible lessons and seeing them grow in knowledge and excitement over what they are learning. Also, their unconditional love toward me and each other.
