What is your name? Paul Smeltzer

What do you teach? 5th Grade

How many years have you taught at Dayspring? The 2018-2019 school year is my first year at Dayspring but I have been teaching or have been an administrator for over 13 years.

What do you appreciate the most about the Principle Approach? I appreciate the integration of faith that has been long a part of history. The Principle Approach also provides a restorative piece of education as a part of preparing students for God’s kingdom.

What do you see in your students that is most encouraging? Fifth grade students are about to enter some major changes in life physically, emotionally, and in maturity and being able to help shape that is a humbling experience.

Why do you love teaching at Dayspring? The team at Dayspring has been very supportive. The parents are also very supportive.

How do you teach a biblical worldview in your classroom? I teach that God’s hand is in all things and He is guiding the thoughts of all parts of our education.

What do you think most students appreciate about your class? I feel that I connect well to the students and have a way of building in the connections between them and other students in the class.

What is unique about you, your talents, or interests that you bring to the classroom? I have a lot of life experiences and challenges that have happened in my life. Sharing those experiences in the classroom have allowed for the personal connection to the class.

What have you seen in your students over the years that has touched your heart the most? When students have that “Ah-Ha!” moment, make the connection, and their learning shows and supports the efforts.

At Dayspring Christian Academy, we are committed to raising up the next generation of Christian leaders who acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus Christ in every area of life, demonstrate a biblical worldview, become citizens of excellence in Christian character and scholarship, and aid in the restoration of America’s biblical foundation.
