Meet the Teacher: Kim Gainer
What is your name? Kim Gainer
What do you teach? English 9, English 11, American History (11th), and Logic / Rhetoric
How many years have you taught at Dayspring? The 2019-2020 school year is my second year at Dayspring.
What do you appreciate the most about the Principle Approach? I appreciate being able to teach from original sources where there is no room for doubt as to the authenticity and truth found in the writing. I appreciate being able to use he Bible as the cornerstone for all other truth.
What do you see in your students that is most encouraging? I find the cooperative spirit and the willingness of the students to engage and learn very encouraging.
Why do you love teaching at Dayspring? I love the overall positive Christian environment at Dayspring. I love the students at Dayspring, and I love teaching alongside like-minded and supportive colleagues.
How do you teach a biblical worldview in your classroom? I think it is easy to teach a Biblical worldview when teaching both English and American History. In history, our Founding Fathers laid a clear Biblical foundation down for us to follow. By studying their writings and other original documents, it is easy to look for, and see God’s hand in the history of our country. In English, no matter what we are reading, no matter what the content of the text, Biblical truths can be applied to the content.
What do you think most students appreciate about your class? I hope my students appreciate the effort I make to relate the material to them and to make the class relevant and interesting.
What is unique about you, your talents, or interests that you bring to the classroom? I have a double major in English and Political Science as well as a Master’s Degree in Adolescent Mental Health. I also have 18 years of experience in Christian Education.
What have you seen in your students over the years that has touched your heart the most? I have been so touched and grateful for the willingness of students to open up and let me be a part of their lives.
At Dayspring Christian Academy, we are committed to raising up the next generation of Christian leaders who acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus Christ in every area of life, demonstrate a biblical worldview, become citizens of excellence in Christian character and scholarship, and aid in the restoration of America’s biblical foundation.
