What is your name? Ruth Sneller

What do you teach? I am the Bright Horizons Teacher and P139 Elementary Aide.

How many years have you taught at Dayspring? The 2018-2019 school year is my second year at Dayspring.

What do you appreciate the most about the Principle Approach? I love having the freedom (and also being encouraged) to teach from a Biblical perspective!

What do you see in your students that is most encouraging? I see them grow in their understanding of who God is and who they are. Watching children who struggle with disabilities develop an understanding of the Gospel strengthens my faith.

Why do you love teaching at Dayspring? I love teaching at Dayspring because it is a refreshing, challenging, and encouraging environment both for the teachers and students. It is Christ centered and seeks to uphold him above all things. I am also grateful for the transparency and support from the administration.

How do you teach a biblical worldview in your classroom? I incorporate Biblical principles into my instruction including self-government and perseverance. We study Bible stories and think about what attributes of God can be seen in the story. Also, we enjoy listening to worship songs together. When challenges come up, I often pray with my students and remind them to ask God for help.

What do you think most students appreciate about your class? I try to incorporate the interests of the students in their learning. Also, I like to find practical ways to apply what is taught in the classroom such as going on field trips and serving students and faculty in the school.

What is unique about you, your talents, or interests that you bring to the classroom? The Lord has given me compassion towards people with disabilities from the time I was little as I have a sister with disabilities. I love music and teach piano and choir outside of Dayspring. I love incorporating music into my class. Also, I am a Dayspring graduate!

What have you seen in your students over the years that has touched your heart the most? I love to see elements of the students’ unique personalities come out, reflecting their unique design. It is amazing to see how through the Holy Spirit, they begin to grow in their knowledge and love for God.

At Dayspring Christian Academy, we are committed to raising up the next generation of Christian leaders who acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus Christ in every area of life, demonstrate a biblical worldview, become citizens of excellence in Christian character and scholarship, and aid in the restoration of America’s biblical foundation.
