As we come together today to celebrate the Class of 2026 and this monumental occasion in the lives of our children, we have many thoughts and emotions, however we primarily come with a heart of thankfulness.
We are thankful for Your faithfulness. We are thankful for Your ever-present hand at work in the lives of the students. We are thankful for Your constant presence throughout their journey…through the valleys and the mountain top experiences.
We are thankful for Dayspring teachers and staff that have sewn their lives into the students.
We are thankful for the gift of each of the students. You have uniquely created each one of them, and You have plans and purposes for them. We’re thankful for the privilege of being able to have them as part of our families and to help them learn, grow and mature into Your image.
But today makes official what we know has been happening for some time…the transition of them not needing us as much as they once did. As they step into this next season of their lives, we once again entrust them into Your hands. We ask that You lead and guide them. Guard, protect and bless them.
No matter what further schooling, occupation, calling, or ministry they pursue, we know Your greatest desire as they walk in an ever-growing relationship with You. May they grow in knowing and understanding and loving You in an ever-greater measure.
In this world there is a battle for their attention and affection. I pray, Holy Spirit, that You will continue to draw them and lead them. May You be loud in their ear. May they only be satisfied in You. May the seeds that have been planted in their lives in our homes and here at Dayspring bear much fruit in the years to come. May their lives be marked by Your presence and may they be ambassadors for Your kingdom wherever their feet take them.
Finally, I echo Paul’s prayer of blessing to the Ephesians over the Class of 2026.
I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!
